The day I got engaged

Day 31, Friday: A vivid memory

The day I got engaged

I can remember this day so perfectly! Not just the getting engaged part, but the whole day!

We were up at 4am in El Paso to catch a 6am flight back to Memphis for Courtney and Drews Couple shower. We were flying different airlines because chris and I were flying into Little Rock to see my parents before the shower.Chris and I were able to get our boarding passes before Court and Drew even made dent in their line. Chris thought we should wait for them, but being that it was now 430am, all i wanted was to get through security so i could get starbucks. Drew "needed to get gum" so he left courtney in line while walking with us to the sundries store before security. Little did I know, Drew had the ring and was going to keep in his bag through security, but bc I needed coffee Chris and Drew had to do a sneaky hand-off in the store. **Looking back now I feel really bad about needing that coffee so bad**

Luckily Chris got through security with no problems so I was still left in the dark. We had a quick stop in Dallas before heading to Little Rock, where we met a crazy lady on the plane names Jeannine. She told us her whole life story, she even walked down to baggage claim with us where she proceeded to meet my mom and give her a hug...

Once we got the bags we headed for the lake house. We spent the whole day out on the boat. We even went and hiked up sugar loaf- all the while my mom video tapping just about our every move- something that sadly didn't sound any alarm with me.

Once we got back to the cabin, Chris suggested we get changed into something nice and sit by the fire on the patio and watch the sunset. Well... my definition of nice at the lake is nike shorts, t-shirt, and wet hair.

With a margarita in hand, we all headed out to the patio. One by one my mom, dad and sister slowly made their way inside until it was just Chris and I.

The exact words he said are a little fuzzy, probably because as soon as I realized what was happening I was crying. He got down on one knee, opened a box to the most beautiful ring I have ever seen and asked me to be his wife :) My mom, dad, and sister all watching from inside.

On cloud 9, I was given a gorgeous bouquet of flowers from him and a bag of goodies from my bestie, Ashlee. We called  our family and friends to tell them the big news, then continued the celebrations with margaritas, tacos and Bourbon slushes.  We stayed up till close to 1am just laughing and chatting around the dinner table with my family.

It was truly an amazing day that I will always remember
right after :)

Day 25, Saturday: Something someone told you about yourself that you'll never forget (good or bad)

I've received a lot of advice over the years- but I think this is something everyone could remember from time to time.

But I'm perfect

Day 24, Friday: Your top 3 worst traits

1. I'm terrible with my rights and lefts. Seriously. If I tell you to go right, go left...

2. I will not go to the movies on a Friday or Saturday night.... way to many pre-teens

3. I always forget something on my grocery list... always. This week it was cinnamon for my morning yogurt.

Happy Birthday Daddy

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY AMAZING DAD!!!!

Love you pops, and I hope you have a wonderful birthday :)

Wait your turn

Day 22, Wednesday: Rant about something. Get up on your soapbox and tell us how you really feel. (a pet peeve, a current event, a controversial topic, something your husband or roommate or neighbor or boss does that really ticks you off)

I've been ready to write this post ever since we got back from Alabama. I can not stand when people don't adhere to the standard procedure for getting off an airplane.

Its really quite simple, once the row ahead of you is out, then it is your turn. People who try to push their way through DRIVE ME CRAZY. On more than one occasion, I will go ahead and step out in the aisle to block them mid stride. (Yes it bothers me that much)

These people are making it harder on those whose turn it is to get their bags. You will literally be only a few seconds behind this person so just cool your jets!

xo.

Here comes the sun

I meant to post this yesterday but I was without service most of the day... So today will do

The topic was to tell a story from your childhood....

My childhood is full of wonderful memories. I was blessed beyond belief with a family that loved me more than anything.

My favorite childhood memory has to be Sunday mornings when my dad and I would drive to get Krispy Kreme doughnuts and play "here comes the sun" by the Beatles over and over again. My dad has always been my biggest fan and supporter. He's helped to shape who I am today and I know he will always be there for me. Even now it's hard not to tear up when I hear the song, especially when we danced to it on my wedding night. That song holds a huge piece of my heart and I will forever be daddy's little girl.

I love you pops!

Here Comes the Bride

Day 17, Friday: A favorite photo of yourself and why

This is definitely my favorite picture. My dad walking me down the aisle on my wedding day. I had just made it to the top of the bridge and got my first look at my handsome groom waiting at the end of the aisle. I also LOVE how happy my dad looks in the picture :)

Headed South

Day 16, Thursday: Something difficult about your "lot in life" and how you're working to overcome it

Wow, this is a pretty serious topic for the day. I feel very blessed that I do not have many difficulties in my life. The only difficulty I can think of would be being able to start a career while being an Army wife. While I have had jobs at each post, none were able to turn into something long term since we were constantly moving. I am looking forward to Chris finally getting out so I will be able to find something that I absolutely love and can see myself doing for years to come- with that being said, I'm crossing my fingers for a job with a sports team wherever we end up calling home.

On a lighter note-

We are headed back to the South today! We will be spending tonight in ATL with Whitney. Of course Tin Lizzys and Ivy are on the to-do  list.

On Friday we head to Tuscaloosa for Robby and Stephanie's Wedding :)

A weekend full of games

Day 13, Monday: Issue a public apology. This can be as funny or as serious or as creative as you want it to be.

  • I'm sorry I'm terrible at returning phone calls
That's really all I got for this one. So I'm going to switch gears and fill you in on all the weekend happenings.

Friday night we had our softball game, we ended up tied at 16-16. I  even made it on base which I'm pretty proud of. Afterwards, our we had a team cookout.

Saturday morning we headed to Grapeview, WA. our friend Lauren has a family home on the sound. It was such a gorgeous day and their property is amazing!

The boys dug for clams while the tide was out, while the girls explored the beaches for critters and geoducks.
There was so much to do at their house- kayaking, corn hole, croquet, and even pickle ball.

The water was crystal clear. While kayaking we could actually see a sunken ship below us which was a little creepy!

We spent the afternoon in friendly couple vs couple competition.

We ended the night with a delicious dinner on the grill and a soak in the hot tub.

Sunday- after Chris and Tom dominated on the pickle ball court, we cooked the muscles the boys harvested. They were delicious!!!

Chris has decided that we must have a pickle ball court at some point and I totally agree :)
Hope everyone had an amazing weekend and happy mothers day as well.
